Advantage Business Systems, Xerox Northeast

Choosing a dealer, not a brand

Why ABS beats every copier dealer in Connecticut

You have probably already decided you want a Xerox. The harder question is who you buy it from — because the dealer decides how fast someone shows up, whether the part is in stock, and whether you are stuck in a 60-month contract when your business changes. Here is exactly how we compare, line by line.

Twelve places dealers actually differ

Every dealer in the state will tell you they have great service. These are the specifics worth asking each of them about — including us.

Response times

With ABS: Calls are dispatched to a technician who already covers your town, so travel time is measured in minutes across our core Connecticut territory — not in whatever a regional queue decides tomorrow.

Common elsewhere: Many dealers route service through a national call center and a shared regional pool. Your ticket competes with every other account in three states.

Local parts warehouse

With ABS: We stock fusers, rollers, drums, feed kits and consumables for the Xerox lines we sell, here in New Haven. Most repairs finish on the first visit because the part is on the van or twenty minutes away.

Common elsewhere: Overnight-from-a-hub parts ordering turns a one-hour fix into a two-visit, two-day outage.

Our own technicians

With ABS: Every tech who walks into your office is an ABS employee, Xerox-trained, on our payroll and accountable to us. No subcontractors, no rotating third-party dispatch.

Common elsewhere: Subcontracted service means the person fixing your copier has no relationship with the company that sold it.

Loaners

With ABS: If a device is down longer than it should be, we can put a loaner in place so your office keeps printing while we sort out the repair.

Common elsewhere: "We'll be back Thursday" — and you photocopy at the UPS Store until then.

LeaseFlex

With ABS: A 12-month minimum, then month-to-month. If your volume, staffing or office changes, you are not trapped. Nobody else locally offers this structure.

Common elsewhere: A 60-month non-cancellable lease with an automatic evergreen renewal buried in paragraph 14.

Customer service

With ABS: One team handles quoting, ordering, install, supplies, meters and billing questions. You get people who know your account by name.

Common elsewhere: Separate portals and separate departments for supplies, service, billing and sales — none of whom can see the others' notes.

Reviews from real local offices

With ABS: Our Google reviews come from law firms, medical practices, schools and town halls across Connecticut who have had us out on a service call. Read them before you sign anything.

Common elsewhere: National vendor reviews are an average of thousands of markets. They tell you nothing about who shows up in Hamden.

A live phone number

With ABS: Call 203-777-0011 during business hours and a person picks up. Not a phone tree, not a ticket form, not a chatbot that promises a callback window.

Common elsewhere: Press 1 for service, press 4 for supplies, enter your 12-digit equipment ID.

Inventory on the ground

With ABS: As an authorized Xerox dealer we hold current VersaLink, AltaLink and PrimeLink equipment locally, so realistic install dates are weeks — not a backorder guess.

Common elsewhere: Direct and national orders queue behind whatever the factory allocation looks like that quarter.

20 years of experience

With ABS: Advantage Business Systems has been selling and servicing Xerox equipment since 2006, from Westchester County to Provincetown. Same ownership, same building, same phone number.

Common elsewhere: Local dealers get acquired and rebranded constantly. The rep who sold you the machine is often gone before the lease is.

Authorized Xerox partner

With ABS: We are an authorized Xerox dealer, which means factory-trained techs, genuine Xerox consumables and manufacturer-backed warranty work — with a local company standing behind it.

Common elsewhere: Gray-market equipment and compatible toner save a little up front and void coverage later.

You are not account #48,213

With ABS: We are big enough to cover four states and small enough that your service history is known by the people answering the phone.

Common elsewhere: Scale is great for the vendor. It is rarely great for the customer with a jammed finisher at 8:45 a.m.

Where another dealer might be the better call

If you run a hundred devices across fifteen states, a national provider with a single nationwide contract is genuinely easier to administer than a regional dealer. If you are committed to a brand we do not carry, we are not the right fit either. And if the only thing that matters is the lowest monthly number on page one, you can usually find it somewhere — just read the term length, the overage rates and the end-of-lease return clause before you sign.

For a single office or a multi-site organization inside Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts or Westchester County, we think the local answer wins on every measure above.

Questions buyers ask before choosing a dealer

What is the difference between buying a copier from a local dealer and buying direct from Xerox?
The equipment and the warranty are the same. The service is not. Buying through an authorized local dealer like ABS means the technician, the parts inventory and the person who answers the phone are all in Connecticut. Buying direct routes service through a national dispatch network.
How fast can ABS get a technician on site in Connecticut?
Our technicians are assigned by territory rather than pulled from a shared regional pool, so most Connecticut service calls are handled the same or next business day. Call 203-777-0011 and we will tell you honestly what the window looks like that day.
Does ABS provide loaner equipment?
Yes. If a device will be down longer than it should be, we can arrange a loaner so your office keeps working while the repair is completed.
What makes LeaseFlex different from a normal copier lease?
LeaseFlex has a 12-month minimum term and then continues month to month, so you are not locked into 60 months. A traditional copier lease is non-cancellable for the full term and often renews automatically unless you send written notice inside a narrow window.
Are ABS technicians employees or subcontractors?
They are ABS employees. Every technician who services your equipment is on our payroll and Xerox-trained. We do not subcontract service calls.
